About Matcha
The centuries-old art of preparing and consuming matcha is traditionally rooted in Zen Buddhist thought and practice. Characterised by its rich and well-rounded layers of umami, matcha is unique for its production process which includes shade growing and stone grounding the whole leaf. The resulting tea boasts of natural antioxidant qualities and it is heralded for its myriad health benefits. Matcha is typically enjoyed as part of the reflective experience of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, but it is also widely celebrated as a versatile culinary ingredient.
